A bezel ring holds the centre stone with a metal rim that follows part or all of its outer edge. Instead of relying mainly on exposed prongs, the setting creates a defined frame around the gemstone and gives the ring a smooth, architectural appearance.

A prong setting uses individual metal claws to hold the gemstone, leaving more of its edge exposed. A bezel setting surrounds more of the stone with metal, producing a cleaner outline and greater edge coverage. The choice is largely about the profile and visual character you prefer.

A full bezel surrounds the entire outer edge of the centre stone. A partial bezel leaves selected sections exposed, using metal only at certain points around the gemstone. Partial bezels can create a more open appearance while retaining the distinctive framed look of a bezel setting.

The metal border changes how the edge of the stone is perceived, but the visual effect depends on the bezel thickness and the proportions of the gemstone. A fine bezel can define the outline without feeling visually heavy, while a wider rim creates a stronger framed appearance.

Round, oval, emerald, pear, cushion and other moissanite shapes can all work with bezel settings. Because the metal follows the gemstone outline, the setting can emphasise both softly curved silhouettes and more geometric cuts.

Bezel settings are often chosen for everyday rings because more of the gemstone edge is enclosed by metal and there are fewer exposed prong tips around the centre stone. As with any fine jewelry, avoid heavy impact and inspect the setting periodically for wear.

Plain, pavé and curved wedding bands can all pair with a bezel engagement ring. Whether a straight band sits flush depends on the height and underside profile of the bezel setting, so lower settings may pair more naturally with a gently shaped band.

Use mild soap, lukewarm water and a soft brush to clean around the bezel edge and beneath any accessible areas of the setting. Rinse thoroughly and dry with a soft lint-free cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners and harsh chemicals that may affect the metal finish.
